BYD introduced the 2027 Seal 06 in China with 12 configurations across EV and DM-i powertrains. DM-i models start at 99,900 yuan ($14,700), while EV versions range from 109,900 to 155,900 yuan. The EV starts at about half the price of a Tesla Model 3 and features Blade Battery 2.0 with flash charging, plus optional LiDAR-based driver assistance.
An independent teardown of the CATL Shenxing LFP cell used in the Xiaomi SU7 Standard Edition found it heavier and less energy-dense than a comparable BYD FinDreams cell. The CATL cell's gravimetric energy density is 175.7 Wh/kg, 6.3% lower than the FinDreams cell's 186.7 Wh/kg. The teardown also revealed different internal architectures: four winding cores versus laminated stacking.
BYD's Fang Cheng Bao brand officially revealed the Ti 9, a full-size six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, with official images and details. The vehicle features a 5.27-meter body, dual 200 kW electric motors, and a 66.48 kWh battery providing 310 km of pure-electric range. It also includes the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system with roof LiDAR.
BYD's Racco kei car received over 1,000 orders in Japan within two weeks of launch, with the top-trim 300 Premium accounting for 80% of orders. Priced from ¥2,145,000 ($13,000) and eligible for a ¥150,000 government subsidy, it undercuts the Nissan Sakura. BYD aims for 10,000 reservations by end of 2026.
