Cesium behaves unexpectedly in nuclear fallout lab recreation
Scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory recreated nuclear fallout conditions and found cesium remains vapor longer than expected, forming complex compounds. The study, published in Analytical Chemistry, used cerium as a plutonium stand-in and tested two cooling scenarios.
