Recycled glass sand used to restore Louisiana coastal cypress
Tulane researchers and Glass Half Half are using recycled glass sand mixed with river sediment and salt-tolerant bacteria to restore coastal cypress in Louisiana. Cypress grew as well in a 50/50 mix as in natural sediment. The bacteria help trees tolerate higher salinity from saltwater intrusion.
