• Six nurses fired at Chicago hospital after unionizing

  At least six nurses were fired from St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago after starting unionization efforts with National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United. The nurses allege retaliation for raising concerns about unsafe conditions since Prime Healthcare acquired the hospital in March 2025. They plan a one-day strike on June 11 and are petitioning to get their jobs back.

• Rep. Garcia demands Endeavor reinstate fired union nurses

  U.S. Rep. Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia called on Endeavor Health to reinstate two Evanston Hospital nurses allegedly fired for unionizing and to stop retaliating against nearly 3,000 nurses unionizing with Teamsters Local 743 over pay cuts and unsafe conditions. Three NLRB charges have been filed against Endeavor since March.
